Tech Note - Faro Focus Laser Scanner
The Faro Focus 70 Laser Scanner is a state of the art device that allows Beacon Scientific to capture fast, straightforward and accurate measurements of complex objects and buildings.
The Device
The Focus scans construction sites, small-scale facades, complex structures, production and supply facilities and crash and crime scenes. The tripod mounted unit scans a user defined range to accurately memorialize a three-dimensional image of investigation sites and subjects. The point cloud data captured can be used with various software packages for renderings and reports.
Applications
Beacon Scientific uses the Faro Focus Scanner to perform rapid and complete 3D recordings of scenes relevant to the matter being investigated. The details are then available for any subsequent reconstruction of the scene. These details can include topography, item location, relative locations, and anything else that exists in the 3D observation.
Specifically, Beacon Scientific has used the Focus Scanner as part of crash investigation and analysis, fire investigations, and workplace accident reconstruction.
